There’s a giant pink vagina couch for sale on Craigslist

If you’re in the market for a giant pink vagina couch, boy do I have the perfect one for you! For sale in Portland for a measly $600 you can now have one of your very own.

From the listing:

Beautiful pink “vagina couch” that I made in art school and no longer have space for. The couch is large: measures 5’ 3” long, 3’ 3” wide at the middle, and stands 2’ 3” tall (and is heavy like a couch). The pics are from my portfolio and are several years old; as a result, the couch has some scuffmarks and stains, but otherwise is in excellent shape. A professional upholsterer helped me build the couch, so it is also functional and durable as a piece of furniture.

If you want to buy it, you’re responsible for hauling it.

Grace Jones. Find it here.

As you probably all know by now if you follow Dangerous Minds on a regular basis, I have an obsession—slightly unhealthy perhaps—with shower curtains. I don’t know why. It’s not like I’m buying a new shower curtain once a week to feed my nutty decor addiction. I just like looking at ‘em. I got problems. Maybe it all stems back to some repressed childhood memory?

But I digress, I don’t think you’d have to use these as shower curtains if any one of them tickles your fancy. I’m sure they’d make interesting window curtains, too. I used the Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie from The Hunger as an example of how one would look in a window.

I added links underneath the photos of where to purchase.

Chilled Monkey Brains Bowl for your next Indiana Jones-themed dinner party

I find these monkey brain bowls by FireBox amusing, but with a price tag of $58.59 a pop, maybe not enough to purchase. If they were a tad cheaper I’d probably buy a set of four. If you’ve got the extra dough to spend, these would make an excellent conversation piece for sure but you might get sick of eating red jello or cherry cobbler all the time.

Paraphrasing Bongwater’s Ann Magnuson, “There are Nick Cave area rugs? I want one!” And it’s my solemn blogging duty to share them with you, too. The rugs range in size from 2’ x 3’ - 4’ x 6’ and are made with polyester fibers (too bad I was really hoping for wool!)

From her to domesticity! Liven up any room in your house or apartment with these Nick Cave area rugs, won’t you?

I definitely do not need this, but goddamn it I want one! The Cassette Tayble is handcrafted with birch hardwood and a “vinyl label that is sealed and protected with a clear epoxy coating.” There are two stainless steel cup holders and the “tape-run folds down to offer a practical storage space for remotes and magazines while amping up the nostalgic look of the cassette tape.”

...we offer custom options to fit your personal style and decor. Be your own furniture DJ and choose from different stains, colors, labels, graphics and legs. If you want a Cassette Tayble built into a bar cart or just want your Tayble to say “Larry’s Jams ‘98”, you name it and we’ll work with you to see your vision through.

I can’t find the pricing for these lovelies, but I bet they ain’t cheap. You can contact the makers of Taybles here to ask them directly.

Update: Here are the prices.

Not your Nana’s china: Lovely vintage porcelain dishes with hordes of hand-painted ants

There’s nothing “ew” about these one-of-kind vintage porcelain dinnerware pieces with realistic hand-painted ants by German artist Evelyn Bracklow. I’ve seen other dishes with ants painted on ‘em before, but not this well executed. In fact, when I first saw these, I gave them a second glance.

A few of the pieces are available at Bracklow’s Etsy shop, La Philie. FYI, they’re not cheap.

Here’s a stained glass Iggy Pop night-light for all you hardcore fans out there who want Iggy’s face to be the last thing you see before you go to sleep at night and the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning. Why does something like this exist you might ask? Because Etsy, that’s why.

The Glass Action shop sells the Iggster for $40.00 + shipping.

AND if Iggy doesn’t tickle your fancy, there are Frank Zappa, Harry Nilsson, David Bowie, Robert Smith, Dolly Parton, Glenn Danzig, Bat Boy, Lou Reed, Alice Cooper, Adam Ant and Pee-wee Herman stained glass night-lights as well.

Death to false furniture: IKEA or a death metal band?

Apparently I know a big bunch of nothing about IKEA furniture and death metal bands ‘cause I failed this quiz miserably.

IKEA is that friendly shop where you get cheap furniture from the inside of a giant, unending warehouse. Black metal is the kind of music that sounds like someone screaming while trapped inside a burning church. They each possess a fervent fan base. And to tell you the truth, the names of the furniture in IKEA sound a lot like the names of black metal bands. Consider this quiz an educational way to learn the difference between the two. It doesn’t matter if you know who Burzum is or if you’ve ever sat in a Preben chair – it’s time to have some kvlt fun.

You can take this very important quiz here. Maybe you’ll fare better than I…

DIY Ouija Board Coffee Table

When I first saw this DIY Ouija Board coffee table on Instructables, I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not. But the longer I looked, the more my Native American spirit guide, White Feather, convinced me that it was pretty rad…

Purpletheory writes:

I was inspired by old Ouija Board designs, which had wonderful curved typefaces and intricate illustrations. This was a fun project and cost me around $120 to complete, and requires only basic tools.

There are 11 steps involved if you wanna try making this on your own. All the instructions are here.

I noticed someone in the comments section followed Purpletheory’s step-by-step instructions and posted photos of the finished table. I think it turned out rather nicely.

There’s something very Ood-ish about Fiona Roberts’ red velvet “Scopophilia” (Greek for “love of looking”) chair embedded with hundreds of plastic eyeballs.

I kind of dig it, it’s interesting, though I’m not necessarily a huge fan of “eyeballed” velvet upholstery. Here’s lookin’ at your backside, kid!

Acid house: George and Patti Harrison’s psychedelic crash pad

From 1964 to 1970, George Harrison and Patti Harrison (Boyd) lived in a house in Surrey, England that they painted psychedelically with a little help from their friends. The home, known as Kinfauns, was quintessentially hippie with its Indian-influenced interior and a giant trippy mandala mural, a creation of the Dutch art/music collective The Fool, framing the fireplace. Imagine a Haight-Ashbury crash pad for millionaires.

The Harrison’s cosmic hideaway was the setting for Beatle songwriting sessions and the recording of demos for the White Album. It was also a hangout for George’s musician buddies, including Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithful, who famously painted a message on the side of the house that read “Mick and Marianne were here & we love you.”

In 1969 Patti and George were arrested in their home for possession of a small chunk of hash. The Drugs Squad chose the day of Paul McCartney’s wedding to Linda Eastman to launch a raid on the Harrison home. The bust resulted in a huge media event - an absurd outcome for an inconsequential amount of smoke. But at least we know where the inspiration for the artwork may have originated.
