BadRobotSurgery.com’s “Contact” says, “We are a law firm that is representing robot surgery clients nationwide. We have partnered with a team of highly experienced litigators who are all uniquely qualified to represent your best interests.”

I have to admit the first thought I had after watching this video: “This has to be an Onion piece.” It’s not.

We are committed to helping victims of robot surgery receive the medical care and compensation they deserve. Additionally, we are committed to educating patients and doctors throughout the nation about the complications associated with robot surgery.

As both a lawyer and a licensed medical doctor, Dr. Francois Blaudeau has made it his mission to fight for the victims of traumatic complications as a result of botched robot surgery. With his extensive medical and legal knowledge, Dr. Blaudeau is uniquely qualified to seek justice for victims of medical negligence.

I’m not sure why the phone number he says is different than what’s pictured in the video.

A whimsical mélange of Kraftwerk’s “Robots” and 70s Soviet sci-fi film Teenagers in Space. According to Coilhouse, the movie is a children’s film “about evil robots.”

That’s pretty much all I need to know to make this a “must see” for me.

If you want to watch Teenagers in Space in its entirety, go here.

Here’s the second incarnation of the Philip K. Dick (aka “Phil”) robot, built by Hanson Robotics.

The first iteration the PKD android doppelgänger pooped-out back in 2005. Apparently this newer “Phil” is “smarter and more sophisticated than ever, and is growing smarter all the time.”

That’s when all the problems start…

More videos after the jump…

Seldom-seen short film by Jim Henson from the AT&T archives:

Jim Henson made this film in 1963 for The Bell System. Specifically, it was made for an elite seminar given for business owners, on the then-brand-new topic — Data Communications.

Pink Tentacle has a creepy post about Sogo & Seibu announcing plans to build “robot doppelgangers.” Ack!

Pink Tentacle says:

The mechanical doppelgangers are available for a limited time as part of a special New Year?

Japan’s H1N1 Flu Simulation Robot

My Japanese ranging from non-existent to the merely serviceable when faced with the ordering of raw fish, I’ll defer my summation of this to PinkTentacle:

According to this NTV news report, the life-sized humanoid robot was developed as a realistic training aid for medical workers.  In addition to sporting a suit of human-like skin, the robot sweats, convulses, moans, cries tears, and exhibits symptoms not unlike a real human patient infected with the H1N1 virus.  If the robot does not receive the proper treatment, the symptoms gradually worsen until it stops breathing.

Reuters video is carrying the English version of the story.  To watch its unembeddable footage, click here.
