We’re getting really close to Halloween and there’s just enough time left to recreate some of these knitted and crochet masks. Many of them are vintage and one-of-a-kind, so you’re probably going to have to make your own mask or hire someone who can do it for you and not ask any questions. Consider this a lookbook. A lookbook for psychopaths, perhaps, but still a lookbook, nevertheless…

What I dig most about the knitted mask thing is that you can just plop one of these puppies on for Halloween and not worry about the rest of your costume. DONE. The mask is sinister enough on its own!

When someone asks “What are you supposed to be?” just tell ‘em: “A walking trigger warning.”

Even though it’s already after December 5th—the day Krampus is celebrated—I thought I’d share this Krampus mask with you guys anyway. Perhaps you’re already planning for next year’s Krampusnacht? Would like to wear this in the bedroom? Or maybe you’re one of those people who celebrate Krampus every goddamned day? (There are no rules anymore, in my opinion. They serve breakfast all day, so why not keep the festive Krampus spirit going year round?)

The base sculpt is resin, while the teeth and horns are apoxie sculpt additions. It has been painted with airbrush and acrylics paints, and sealed. The straps are black goat leather, and it is backed in a brown faux-suede. It is made to be able to fit an average sized adult face.

This mask will never be recreated!

This one-of-a-kind evil-lookin’ beauty was handcrafted by Catherine Gretschel. It’s currently up for auction on eBay. So far it’s at $180.00 with just a few bids.

 
Crazy latex “life mask” of David Bowie by Erick Erickson for sale on eBay for $164.99.

This started with an actual life cast mask of singer David Bowie. Then it has been sculpturaly enhanced by me, Erick Erickson. The Hair and ears have been added to create a very Spacey display, and I sculpted the eyes open showing a dazed space like expression. The detail is amazing, from the shaved eyebrows, to the Bowie teeth set in the mouth.

Update: I just noticed the Bowie mask is selling for $139.99 on Erick’s website.
