Award-winning director, Rob Heydon’s film version of Irvine Welsh’s Ecstasy opens this fall.

Starring Adam Sinclair, Kristin Kreuk, Billy Boyd and Carlo Rota, it’s based on Welsh’s novella, “The Undefeated”, taken from his book Ecstasy - Three Tales of Chemical Romance.

It’s 15 years since the film version of Trainspotting kicked in the doors and launched the careers of a young and new generation of talent, and while negotiations continue for its follow-up Porno, it’s hoped Ecstasy will be as good, if not better. Here’s hoping.

Here’s the most recent teaser for the Ecstasy, plus 2 others. For more information check here.

Here’s a crazy homemade glass bong nicknamed “Burnest Hemingway” by Redditor cms04fsu. Apparently this bong was made from a tequila bottle.

Also, someone in the comments thread suggested an alternate name: Hunter S. Bongson. I think both are appropriate.

This issue of Uncensored magazine hit the newstands in August of 1968, nine years after Cary Grant had gone public with the fact that he had taken LSD and two months before it was made illegal.

Cary Grant never tried to keep his LSD use secret. In fact, he spoke glowingly about it in a 1959 interview with Look magazine, saying that it had brought him close to happiness for the first time in his life. He also said that LSD taught him immense compassion for other people, and had helped him conquer his own shyness and insecurity.

Chock full of scandal and gossip, Uncensored was a real bargain at 35 cents. Lesbians, homos, LSD and sex tips from Sean Connery!

Marijuana-themed chess board

An amusing weed-themed chess set with 32 pieces in the shapes of bongs, bowls, joints and pot leaves. I’ve never played chess a day in my life, but “weed chess” seems like it could be more entertaining. Smoke a bowl every time a piece gets taken? A joint for checkmate?

The Stonerware Pot Leaf Chess Set is available on a lot of sites. I found it here for $26.71, but you may be able to find cheaper elsewhere.

For your listening and viewing pleasure, a mix of psychedelic tunes from France, India, Britain, Indonesia and The United States.

The mix concludes with two songs from one of my all-time favorite albums, “No Other” by Gene Clark. It’s a masterpiece that has been unheard by far too many people. I hope Clark’s songs included here will be a compelling introduction to those of you who haven’t heard the album and will seek it out. It’s really quite brilliant.

The visuals are comprised of excerpts from global experimental film makers, both contemporary and pioneers of early 20th century movie magic, including Larry Jordan, Jonas Mekas, Toshio Matsumoto, Segundo de Chomón and Maurice Lemaitre.

Songs:

“Aere Perennius” - Docdail
“Karye Pyar” - Nahid Akhtar
“Somebody’s Calling My Name” - Baby Grandmothers
“Don’t Let It Get You Down” - Shadrack Chameleon
“Pemain Bola” - Rasela
“Child Of Nature” - The Beatles
“Love’s The Thing” - Smoke Rings
“Didunia Yang Laing” - Ariesta Birawa Group
“Forge Your Own Chains” - D.R. Hooker
“Milkman” - Ema
“Written On The Forehead”- PJ Harvey
“That Shocking Day” - Ivo’s Group
“Who Can I Say You Are” - Morley Grey
“Heavy Head” - Little Sammy Gaha
“Strength Of Strings” - Gene Clark
“No Other”- Gene Clark

Here’s a shocking example of an anti-drug poster campaign from the United Nations’ Offices on Drugs and Crime targeting the use of opium in Kabul, Afghanistan.

I guess this is one way to ease the pain for a teething baby?
