“Ziggy Stardust” as a vintage comic
Chris Sims of the website, Comics Alliance came up with the idea to mashup some old comic book covers with popular songs by David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy, just to name a few.
Beastie Boys’ 1986 anthem, “Brass Monkey”
Public Enemy’s “S1W’s”
The Flaming Lips’ “Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.”
Parliament’s “Dr. Funkenstein.”
Using covers from classic comics from as far back as the 1970s, I really dug Sims’ mock-ups and wish that some of them were actually real. I mean, wouldn’t you read a “Dr. Funkenstein” comic or a comic series based on the exploits of Public Enemy’s S1W’s (both are pictured above) as they do battle trying to impeach the President? I know I would.
Thin Lizzy’s 1976 classic, “Jailbreak.”
1999’s “Teenage FBI” by Guided By Voices
The Ramones 1976 single, “Judy Is A Punk mashed up with issue #72 of Josie and the Pussycats, “Vengeance From The Crypt” published in October of 1973.
1986’s “Turbo Lover’ by Judas Priest.
“Jukebox Hero” by Foreigner.
“Tiny Dancer” by Elton John.
