Artist Chad Yenney produces collages under the name “Computarded.” His artwork is visually arresting and often strangely unsettling—as if we’re being given a glimpse of the world as it really exists with all its dehumanizing obsessions and affluence.

Yenney’s collages are the kind of thing that would look good almost anywhere—from album cover to tee, or on the front of some glossy art house magazine. Indeed, Yenney’s work would fit snugly between the pages of any novel or short story by J G Ballard—most obviously Crash. Fair to say, if Ballard had been an artist instead of a writer then he might have produced artwork not unlike Yenney’s. (Ballard did briefly dabble with making collage and there is some (if slight) similarity.)

Washington based Yenney is an audio-engineer by day and artist by night. He makes his collage in the old school way of taking something that’s almost garbage and re-purposing it. Cutting out vintage images from discarded newspapers, books, or magazines, and pasting them together. Yenney likes to make the collage in one shot. He doesn’t stockpile images but works only from those which inspire him. He then posts the finished work on his Instagram account.

A selection of his work is also available as t-shirts, wall hangings, and smart phone cases.
