The Washington Post held their annual Peeps Diorama Contest and the winner was Cori E. Wright’s “OccuPeep D.C.” Apparently it took Wright over 20 hours to complete the project.

From Pink News:
Ice cream giant Ben and Jerry’s has announced today it will be changing the name of one of its ice cream flavours in the UK in support of equal marriage rights for gays.
Oh! My! Apple Pie! will become Apple-y Ever After and tubs will feature a gay couple atop a wedding cake decorated with rainbows.
The ice cream maker is also teaming up with Stonewall to launch a new Facebook app today that asks users to ‘marry’ each other online.
Tasty!
Young Holden’s 2nd birthday cake, inspired by Milton Glaser’s Bob Dylan poster, was created by Betty Bakery in Brooklyn. What a lucky kid! This cake is a work of art!

An accidental Google search (don’t ask) led me to a rather odd subculture/phenomena in Google images: cats and mushrooms. There’re cats pictured with Cremini mushrooms, Porcini, wild mushrooms and even the psychedelic kind. (I’m in no way endorsing ‘shrooming your cat, btw.)
According to an article on NPR’s website titled Mystery Solved: Why Cats Crave Mushrooms, cats are attracted to the glutamate chemical in mushrooms. Vets warn though, cats probably shouldn’t be eating the fungi. Some could poison them.
More photos of cats and mushrooms after the jump…

Here’s a mildly entertaining DIY apple bong with a face carved on it. You’d probably have to use that sucker fast though, before oxygen turns it all brown.

Paula Deen is one of those people who, when life gives her lemons, she makes a lemon pie with ham and two sticks of butter.
Apparently Deen has Type 2 diabetes. The rumor going around today is that the saucy Southern TV chef—well known for her high calorie, high fat foods—has signed a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Novartis, the big pharmaceutical company.
Surely she can’t continue to preach the gospel of deep-fried Doritos pies and Twinkies-stuffed Thanksgiving turkeys working as the spokesperson for a diabetes medication or will Deen re-brand herself and start showcasing newer healthier recipes more in tune with the basic tenants of nutrition (and common sense)?
Deen has faced withering criticism for the high amounts of fat, salt and sugar in her dishes. When Deen’s cookbook for kids, “Lunch-Box Set,” was published in 2009, Barbara Walters asked her, “You tell kids to have cheesecake for breakfast. You tell them to have chocolate cake and meatloaf for lunch. And french fries. Doesn’t it bother you that you’re adding to this?”
Last August, “No Reservations” host Anthony Bourdain called Deen “the worst, most dangerous person to America” and said she should “think twice before telling an already obese nation that it’s OK to eat food that is killing us.”

I don’t know if Pizza Boomerang is a real product or if this is even a real advert. All I know is that it’s all kinds of funny and wrong to boot. Not to mention having a catchy-as-hell theme tune! C’mon now everybody: “Pi-pi-pi-pi-pizza/Boo-boo-boo-boo-boomerang!”
Update: It turns out Pizza Boomerang was made by Sofa Experience Communications, so I guess it won’t be coming to a store near you soon.
