Peter Cushing liked to read - as can be seen from this rather strange sequence from The Skull (1965).
When the Gentleman of Horror wasn’t reading, Peter liked to play with his toy soldiers at his home in Kensington, London, as this British Pathe News reel footage from 1956 shows. This was Mr Cushing before his career defining performances as Baron Victor in The Curse of Frankenstein(1957), and as Coctor Van Helsing in Dracula (1958).
“You go into this thing and you build your own world.”
Captured from Watchman Broadcasting’s net stream in July 2011. Dorothy Spaulding and guests unintentionally entertain with their views on digital entertainment.
“Isn’t there a… uh… guitar that’s called ‘something Hero’?”
“That’s a new thing that they’re coming out with and the kids are really addicted to it.”
The best part starts at 2:50 when she asks him about how the “occultists” tried to intimidate him with over 100 dead ravens after he was on her show the last time.
For all you die-hard Twin Peaks and retro game lovers out there, Jak Locke created this free Black Lodge Atari 2600-style action game for PCs and Macs. According to all the comments I’ve been reading about this game, it’s damn hard to beat:
A day in the FBI was never like this before! You are Special Agent Dale Cooper and you’ve found yourself trapped inside of the Black Lodge, a surreal and dangerous place between worlds.
Try as you might, you can’t seem to find anything but the same room and hallway no matter which way you turn. Worse yet, your doppelganger is in hot pursuit! You have no choice but to keep running through the room and hallway (or is it more than one?) and above all else, don’t let your doppelganger touch you! Your extensive physical training in the FBI will provide you a seemingly limitless supply of energy to run as long as necessary, but running out of breath is the least of your worries!
You’ll find quickly that you’re not alone in the Black Lodge, though your friends are few and far between. Not only that, the lodge itself seems to be actively trying to trip you up at all times! You’ll be dodging chairs and crazed Lodge residents all while trying to keep your own insanity. How long can this go on?
No time to think of that now -here comes that doppelganger again. Just keep on running through the curtains or it will surely be curtains for you!

“Tea Party Zombies Must Die” is a new first-person shooter game from StarvingEyes Advergaming, a company set up to make viral Internet games. Looks like they’ve got a winner in that department with this in-house produced game:
DON’T GET TEA-BAGGED! The Tea Party zombies are walking the streets of America. Grab your weapons and bash their rotten brains to bits! Destroy zombie Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, the Koch Brothers, and many more!
Apparently the way this works is that the shooter, er, player, blasts their way into the Fox News studio encountering “Factory-made Blonde Fox News Barbie Who Has Never Had a Problem in Her Life Zombie” and then moves through the levels encountering the “Koch industries Koch Whore lobbyist pig zombie,” “Generic Pissed Off Old White Guy Zombie,” the “Pissed Off Stupid White Trash Redneck Birther Zombie” and the “Climate Change Denying Zombie.”
Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Newt Gingrich, Brit Hume, Mike Huckabee and the ever hapless Rick Santorum also provide “undead” fodder for the game.
Cue Fox News making a huge controversy over this, and blaming Obama for it somehow…
An amusing weed-themed chess set with 32 pieces in the shapes of bongs, bowls, joints and pot leaves. I’ve never played chess a day in my life, but “weed chess” seems like it could be more entertaining. Smoke a bowl every time a piece gets taken? A joint for checkmate?
The Stonerware Pot Leaf Chess Set is available on a lot of sites. I found it here for $26.71, but you may be able to find cheaper elsewhere.
There are plenty of people out there who are still upset about the cancellation of Arrested Development (ahem…me included). In an attempt to keep the show a hot online topic (and hopefully feed the demand for an Arrested Development movie), Pleated-Jeans gives you the Arrested Development themed Clue board game, complete with box art, game board, suspect cards and weapon cards.
