‘Hell yeah’ or I was the 666th guest on the RiYL podcast

Today marks the one-week-to-go-home stretch of trying to get Magick Show funded on Kickstarter!

Yesterday I woke up, walked the dogs, and almost immediately I was recording the RiYL podcast with host Brian Heater. Brian’s an especially good interviewer and I was thrilled to be among the 666 guests he’s had on his podcast, a stellar group that includes the Red Krayola’s Mayo Thompson and Britsh folksinger, Vashti Bunyan.

Magick Show bills itself as a “masterclass in modern occultism.” It’s hard to argue with the tagline. Richard Metzger is in his element interviewing dozens of experts on different aspects of the occult, in a bid to contextualize the centuries-old phenomenon for the modern moment. Metzger is the man for the job. At the turn of the century, he served as the host of UK interview show, Disinformation. The series gave rise to his first book, Disinformation: The Interviews, followed soon after by Book of Lies: The Disinformation Guide to Magick and the Occult. For the past decade-and-a-half, Metzger has served as the co-founder and editor-in-chief of culture blog, Dangerous Minds.

As luck(?) would have it, I was the guest on show #666. When we finished the recording Brian asked me “if it would be okay” with me or if I had a problem with this particular episode being the 666th one he’s done. “Was it really?” I asked, and he answered in the affirmative.

“Fine with me!”
