While most of America was out pet shopping with Sasha and Maila, I found myself returning to a dog of a different kind. Meet Boston Dynamics’ “Big Dog.” He’s probably not a “cuddler,” and the sound he’ll make on your morning walk might send the neighbors running, but I have no doubt he’d be a loyal companion—especially in times of martial law (this pup’s back seems ready-made for machine gun mounts). As Herr Freud might say, “uncomfortably strange.” Or, in the words of a friend of mine, “That’s the craziest shit I’ve ever seen!” Less uncanny, but far more funny? Big Dog “Mummenschanz.”
