Named and shamed: Wife puts up posters warning of ‘lying cheating scumbag husband’

Revenge isn’t always a dish served cold, sometimes it’s a poster campaign spread through the neighborhood, telling everyone of your nefarious deeds.

For one husband in the Prestwich area of Manchester, England, this appears to be the case, as he is at the center of a revenge poster campaign that accuses him of “cheating” on his wife and family.  The hand-made posters, which include a photograph of the husband under the heading “WARNING,” have appeared on lamp-posts, bus stops, and railings across the area warning the public to be on the look-out for a:

Local lying cheating scumbag. Married, father of 2. Ran out on family + left a note to inform them.

Local paper, the Manchester Evening News contacted the husband in question, who “declined to comment,” though “denied the ‘love rat’ claim.”

While the husband isn’t saying much, a few local residents are certainly up for giving their two cents worth, including Maria Jansen, from Crumpsall, who told the paper:

“I work in Prestwich and I’d spotted a couple pinned up on walls just up the road earlier in the day but hadn’t really stopped to read it until I was getting my bus home. Good on her I say, if he’s done that he wants naming and shaming and I hope he’s suitably embarrassed.”

Carla Moore, who lives on Bury Old Road, said:

“I think it’s hilarious. It serves him right if he’s left his wife like that, he shouldn’t just be allowed to get away with it. I doubt he’ll be happy about it, but so what? It’s the perfect revenge.”

But not everyone agrees, as Kimberley Preston from Prestwich told the paper:

“I saw others having a laugh at it so I came over to have a look but I don’t find it very funny. I don’t know why you’d want to air your dirty linen in public. The poster says he’s got kids so I think it’s pretty tasteless to be honest - what if they saw it? It would be mortifying for them.”

(Surely, the kids would have noticed if Daddy’s gone?)

Surprisingly, the paper appears not to have contacted the wife to see if she was indeed behind the revenge poster campaign, and to ask what all the fuss is about?
