What if every song, ever, was about ‘Greg’?

Yesterday, a thread appeared on reddit with the unremarkable title “Which song is most improved when all occurrences of ‘I,’ ‘me,’ ‘my,’ etc. are replaced with ‘Greg’?” With 10,000 replies and counting, it’s the most fun thing I’ve seen all day.

The current “winner” of the thread is Shaggy’s 2000 hit “It Wasn’t Me,” which the game turns into this:

But she caught Greg on the counter (It wasn’t Greg)
Saw Greg bangin’ on the sofa (It wasn’t Greg)
Greg even had her in the shower (It wasn’t Greg)
She even caught Greg on camera (It wasn’t Greg)
She saw the marks on Greg’s shoulder (It wasn’t Greg)
Heard the words that Greg told her (It wasn’t Greg)
Heard the scream get louder (It wasn’t Greg)
She stayed until it was over

Another one that’s quite funny, if not worth quoting is Haddaway’s “What Is Love?” which is usually associated with the Roxbury Boys from SNL.

Inserting “Greg” into Whitney Houston’s hit “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” makes it seem ... kinda sad:

Yeah Greg wants to dance with somebody,
Greg wants to feel the heat with somebody.
Yeaaah Greg wants to dance with somebody,
With somebody who loves Greg.

As user AsteroidB612 observed, “I’ve read the name Greg so many times now that it no longer looks like a recognizable four letter word.”

Beck’s “Loser”:

Greg es un perdedor
Greg’s a loser, baby,
So why don’t you kill Greg?

And Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch”:

Greg’s a bitch, Greg’s a lover, Greg’s a child, Greg’s a mother
Greg’s a sinner, Greg’s a saint, Greg does not feel ashamed
Greg’s your hell, Greg’s your dream, Greg’s nothing in between
You know you wouldn’t want it any other way

I won’t do it for you, but rather I invite you to ponder what this does to “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Here’s Barry Williams, the actor who played Greg on The Brady Bunch, stoned while filming a scene, as revealed in his Growing Up Brady autobiography:
