TACO: the origin of Donald Trump’s most hated nickname
The entire presidency of Donald Trump has been a damning state of affairs for the United States of America, not just for its voters but for its other elected officials, too.
After all, the GOP have fallen behind this fascist fool, and the Democrats have treated him with kid gloves for his entire presidency. It would be one thing if this were because of the unwavering support from his voter base and a commitment to representing the will of the people, but it’s not. It seems to be because no one, not one person in American politics, can stomach Trump giving them a nickname on Twitter. That’s it. That’s what they’re so scared of.
‘Sleepy’ Joe Biden. ‘Laughin” Kamala Harris. Gavin ‘Newscum’. The list goes on and on for literal decades by now and uniformly has all the wit and venom of a particularly slow schoolyard bully, yet the supposed “threat” of being made fun of on the internet is enough for these grown adults to fall in line with a horrifyingly brutal regime that’s murdering its own people with a song in its heart… It would be hilarious if it weren’t true.
I know we’re meant to rise above it. Take the high road. Do not stoop to his level. Show that we’re better than that. If the last decade has shown us anything, it’s that “taking the high road” doesn’t work. Playing by the rules against someone breaking them never works, and when you can’t seem to get any kind of meaningful win, you might as well take any kind of W you can get. Particularly when it’s a taste of his own repugnant medicine.
It’s not big. It’s not particularly clever. But he really fucking hates TACO, doesn’t he?

What is TACO, and why does Trump hate it?
We’re not talking about the food here either, though it’s probably a little too “ethnic” for his McDonald’s obliterated palette. For the uninitiated, TACO is an acronym. One that stands for “Trump Always Chickens Out”. It’s a pattern of behaviour that, honestly? I’m kind of surprised has only been really spotted recently, because the truth is that for Trump’s entire time in the public eye, he has talked a big game and then backed out when push came to shove.
Which checks out. This is a man who doesn’t really think or feel anything and hasn’t for years. He just does whatever people tell him to do. Whether that’s his Dad, Roy Cohn, Vladimir Putin, Steve Bannon, Elon Musk or any number of (and I use this term as loosely as possible) “brains” behind the Trump operation he bends over for. He’s a figurehead with all the brains to match, so when he started making threats of a trade war with his tariffs in 2025, then immediately backed out when it became clear he was starting a war he would lose handily, people started putting two and two together.
This went beyond the tariffs as well. Remember when he was dead set on annexing Greenland for the sake of the American empire? Yeah, gave up on that too. Same with Venezuela. He sabre rattled against North Korea and the Taliban, trying to get the former to end its nuclear program and the latter to give up territory in Afghanistan in exchange for an American retreat. Both walked all over him. This was a man elected twice because of his supposed “skill with a deal” and his “intimidation factor”. So much for that.
That said, the country elected a man who bankrupted multiple casinos with his “business acumen”. Sometimes you really do get what you deserve.
