“An injury is much sooner forgotten than an insult.” -Lord Chesterfield

Rusty Blazenhoff over at Boing Boing turned me on to these lovely insult teacup and saucer sets by Miss Havisham. The teacups and saucers start at around $60. I’m digging these big time!

According to Miss Havisham’s site:

We are still accepting orders but due to overwhelming demand, please note that any order placed after 1pm Pacific time 11/29 cannot be guaranteed to arrive in time for Christmas. Those placed prior will be shipped in time for the holiday. Our evil cat army is packing as quickly as they can.

Even if I were to get this after the holidays, I’d still be super stoked. The “Witch!” set is by far my favorite.

‘Blackout’ blinds turn windows into beautiful city skylines

These aren’t “dangerous” per se, they’re just something I really dig: blackout blinds showcasing city skylines. Ukrainian designers HoleRoll created these unique and wonderful blinds by cutting out small shapes in the fabric and letting pockets of light shine through. They give the appearance of a bustling cityscape right outside of your own home, no matter where you might live.

They’re not necessarily “blackout” blinds, as light does come through them by design, but they’re still pretty darn dark.

For pricing and ordering go here. There are also more images and styles in their photo gallery.

Ike and Tina Turner’s former home is for sale and it’s a GROOVY 1970s time capsule

A four bedroom home located in View Park, California that was once owned by none other than Ike and Tina Turner is for sale. It was last sold in 1977 to a woman named Amanda Pittman. According to Pittman, she kept some of the Turner’s furnishings intact and well, as you can plainly see… she didn’t really update it at all. It’s a 1970s time capsule to say the very least. In fact, some of the scenes from What’s Love Got to Do With It—a movie based on Tina Turner’s life—was filmed in the house.

Pittman recalls that Ike Turner had the sofas custom-made, but they were upholstered in a red, possibly velvet material that she disliked, so she had them redone in beige. (Owners are still determining whether or not the furniture is up for sale, says listing agent Ken Conant.)

That’s a deal breaker!

The home is listed at 999k. You can see more photos here.

Turn your favorite concert ticket stub into a floor mat

You know all those concert ticket stubs you’ve held onto for so many years? (I’ve got a pretty big collection myself and didn’t really know what to do with them.) Well now you can walk all over your concert-going memories with these personalized ticket stub floor mats. The Internet has everything, right?

You can create these one-of-kind floor mats through Lakeside Photo Works. Depending on size, each mat averages around $34. According to the website, the best way to ensure quality of your mat is to mail in your ticket stub. Apparently your ticket stub will be mailed back to you once your mat is completed.

Now get to it and start wiping your dirty shoes all over your treasured Gun Club or Gang of Four ticket stub!

Freakishly cute giant isopod pillows

These may not be pillows exactly, but the photos certainly suggest you can use them as such. Perhaps they’re considered more isopod plushies than pillows? Either way, they’re so darn ugly that they’re actually cute, right?

The stuffed isopods are straight out of Japan (because of course) and come in many different sizes. I found them all on Amazon and linked to the extra large crustacean for $62.58. If you want a smaller size here is the large and medium.

A Minimoog beanbag sofa can be yours

What you’ve been waiting your whole life for but you just didn’t know it, right? A Minimoog beanbag sofa! Still, while I appreciate the idea, I’m not so sure I like the execution. It looks a tad bit uncomfortable (like you’d roll right off it). I could be wrong as I’ve never actually tested this thing. Maybe it’s super-duper analog synth comfy?

Woouf! brands makes this Minimoog sofa, but I couldn’t find it on their actual website. I did, however, find it here for 381,20€ (or for around $429.42).

Pimptastic untouched ‘70s penthouse apartment can be yours for $158k

I love when these types gems pop up on the MLS or Zillow. They’re rare finds. Take this funky Chicago penthouse apartment for instance that recently went up on the Multiple Listing Service for a cool $158,000. It’s 1,877 square feet, built in 1972 and with its original decor included. Did you hear me? With its original decor included! Apparently—at least according to the Internet so this may not be 100% accurate—the people who owned the apartment never lived really there and therefore didn’t bother to update it. Hence why it’s “untouched” with all its funky psychedelic glory still intact.

If you have an extra $158k and want to live in the Chicago area, this awesome time capsule can be yours.

Ouija board coffee table and rug

Okay, this is a pretty clever design of a ouija board area rug and a coffee table in the shape of a planchette. The conceptual design was imagined by Dave Delisle of Dave’s Geek Ideas. Dave came up with idea back in 2013. The good news is that apparently now you can actually own this set!

According to Dave, “If you absolutely want one, contact my friends at Tom Spina Designs for an estimate, they can build it for you.”

I just checked out Tom Spina Designs’ website. I couldn’t find any images of a finished area rug and coffee table on there. I’d love to see it in the real world.

If you want to get your Eighties on with your home décor, why not this Patrick Nagel faux fur throw blanket? It’s a Huf x Nagel collaboration. Apparently the blanket can fit a queen size bed and sells for $80.00 + shipping.

And if an Eighties-themed blanket isn’t enough, here are some Patrick Nagel socks to keep your feet warm and stylish during the cold winter months.

These stackable coasters create a 3-D brain on your coffee table

I’m digging the hell out of this ten-piece set of glass brain coasters that create a 3D brain if stacked in the proper order. Apparently the Brain Specimen Coasters are easy to stack in order as each coaster is labeled. The price for these ain’t too shabby either, the entire set is a mere $19.99 plus shipping. I think that’s very reasonable for a 3D glass brain!

The coasters have rubber feet as not to scratch any surfaces and they’re hand wash only (not safe for dishwashers).

Sweet dreams: Rest your baked head on a giant baggie of dank weed

Sweet dreams with the Giant Stash pillowcase

Just kidding, only an idiot would use a lumpy bag of dank weed as a pillow. This is a pillowcase called the Giant Stash, created by Steelplant, that looks like an oversized baggie stuffed with Sour Diesel cannabis. And, it really is big, measuring in at 17” wide by 19” tall.

If you do want to sleep on your marijuana for some reason, fret not, its creator thought of that too. They’ve included an “aromatherapy” pouch inside the pillowcase for your aromatic stash.

p.s. You’ll need to order a “pillow form insert” for your new cannabis pillowcase. Otherwise, it’s just a flat sack of nothing.

You’re welcome.
