Celsius drinks recalled after accidentally being filled with vodka
High Noon has recalled its drinks in numerous areas of the US after they were accidentally mixed up and packaged as Celsius energy.
Both Celsius and High Noon, a vodka seltzer brand, share the same packaging supplier, which is how the mislabelling incident occurred. Notably, Celsius is non-alcoholic and can be purchased by people under the age of 21, unlike High Noon.
It relates to High Noon’s 12-pack Beach Variety case, which was sent to consumers as Blue Razz-flavoured Celsius despite containing alcohol.
Celsius, which was founded in Sweden in 2009 and has since become a huge global brand, has distanced itself from the mix-up, stating, “Celsius was not involved in the production, filling, or distribution of the affected products.”
Meanwhile, in a statement, High Noon’s customer relations department said: “As a reminder, consumers are advised to dispose of the Celsius Astro Vibe Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition silver lid cans with the impacted lot codes (L CCB 02JL25 to L CCB 02JL25) and not consume the liquid.”
The message continued, “Consumers who believe they may have purchased affected product should not consume it and dispose of it.”
The recalled High Noon Beach Variety 12-pack cases were only shipped to Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin rather than across the entirety of the United States. They were initially shipped to customers between July 21st to 23rd, and contain the lot codes L CCB 02JL25 to L CCB 02JL25.
High Noon has also confirmed that nobody has reported any illness due to the unfortunate mix-up, which has saved the packagers a lot of money on a potential lawsuit.
