Man appears in court for allegedly possessing exteme pornography involving a fish

A man from Leicestershire has appeared in court after being accused of possessing extreme pornography depicting sexual activity between humans and a fish.

Connor Smith, a 29-year-old from Leicester, allegedly had the illegal image on his phone, which was seized by the police. It’s alleged that the pornography features a man, a woman and a fish.

Smith, who appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court, was charged by police back in February 2023 for the alleged offence of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a human having sex with an animal.

The official charge reads: “On February 5 2023 you possessed an extreme pornographic image, which portrayed, in an explicit and realistic way, a person performing an act of intercourse with an animal, namely a fish, which was grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character, and a reasonable person looking at the image would think that such a person or animal was real.”

Rehana Haque, the prosecutor in the case, told the court, “This is a case that, we think, could be dealt with in these courts.”

Meanwhile, Smith’s defence lawyer, Mark Harrison, said, “We don’t argue in terms of jurisdiction. It’s a straightforward matter and we would also say it’s suitable for summary trial.”

Smith, who has been released on bail, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which will now be heading to the Crown Court.

His next hearing is set to be held at Newcastle Crown Court on October 14th.
