Drunk raccoon found unconscious in liquor store bathroom

A drunk raccoon was recently found unconscious in the bathroom of a liquor store in Virginia.

The furry customer crept its way into the store during the early hours of the morning on November 28th, when the shop in Ashland, Virginia, was closed overnight.

Upon an employee coming into work on Saturday morning, they were met with the unwanted sight of broken bottles, a tile from the ceiling collapsed, and a floor soaked in alcohol.

Naturally, they assumed the store had been broken into by a thirsty reveller, and were shocked to discover the raccoon passed out in the bathroom.

Somehow, the raccoon, despite drinking enough booze to quench the thirst of a battalion, survived the incident, and was transported safely to Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter by local animal control worker, Samantha Martin.

Martin laughed off the incident, saying, “I personally like raccoons. They are funny little critters. He fell through one of the ceiling tiles and went on a full-blown rampage, drinking everything.”

She also said of her unusual job and what it can throw at her, “Another day in the life of an animal control officer, I guess.”

In a later Facebook post, the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter confirmed that all is well with the raccoon despite the amount of alcohol consumed, writing, “After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer.”

Next time that the raccoon accidentally falls through a roof, hopefully, for the sake of their stomach, it’s not another liquor store.
