Naked Florida man found by police in sunbed after trying to burn down Planet Fitness
A Florida man was found naked in a branch of San Carlos Park Planet Fitness and has been accused of attempting to burn down the facility.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on June 19th. 25-year-old Henrry Antunez-Avarado has since been charged with numerous offences attached to the bizarre episode.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, they were alerted to Planet Fitness after hearing reports that a man began to act erratically once the gym told him that it was closing time, and he subsequently stripped off before running around the vicinity in the nude.
Rather than walking to the changing room to grab his bag from his locker after hearing it was time to go home, Antunez-Avarado is said to have crawled into the ceiling of the gym while completely naked, which has been captured on surveillance footage.
After finding his way into the ceiling, the CCTV shows that Antunez-Avarado successfully managed to enter a series of rooms while officers searched to find him. However, the game of cat and mouse was short-lived with officers eventually discovering him in a tanning bed.
The authorities also claim that Antunez-Avarado knocked down a series of tiles in the gym and attempted to burn down the bathroom.
Following his arrest, Antunez-Avarado has subsequently been charged with indecent exposure, arson, criminal mischief and providing false information to law enforcement.
This incident isn’t Antunez-Avarado’s first brushing with the law. He was previously convicted in 2023 on charges of attempted burglary, trespassing and loitering/prowling.
