Donald Trump bizarrely jokes about having a ‘threesome’ with his own sons
US President Donald Trump left a crowd of his supporters astonished when he made an off-colour joke about having a ‘threesome’ with his two sons during a speech on July 1st.
The 80-year-old former business tycoon was giving a speech to mark the opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota. One hour in, having long since departed from any kind of script, he began riffing on how Theodore Roosevelt and his son, Theodore Roosevelt Jr, are one of two father-son duos to earn the Medal of Honour in wartime.
In amongst his incoherent rambling, Trump mentioned the other father and son duo to receive the honour, saying, “Except for Arthur and Douglas MacArthur… they’re the only father and son pair to receive our nation’s highest military award for courage above and beyond the call of duty.”
Then, things got weird, as he quipped, “Now, as I see my two beautiful sons sitting there, I think I’m going to give one to myself, one to them, and we’ll have a threesome.”
Perhaps, for a change, he suddenly became aware of what he just said. After all, as gasps of shock and disgust were heard from the audience, he immediately pivoted to joking about picking only one of the two sons in attendance and awarding them the Congressional Medal of Honor “for their genius at hunting”. Which checks out as, like their father, neither of them has served in the military.
This came after a long speech that was mainly focused on the so-called achievements of his own administration. In fact, the president being honoured that day, Theodore Roosevelt, was only brought up when Trump began speaking about how much the 26th President of the United States of America would have disapproved of his predecessors, especially Joe Biden.
Considering Roosevelt himself is arguably most famous for dismantling monopolies and preventing the country from becoming a corporatocracy, I think it’s fair to say that Biden and Obama wouldn’t have angered him anywhere near as much as some other options we can think of.
The latest weird Trump comment shouldn’t be a huge surprise considering the history of strange remarks that Trump has made about his daughter; therefore, there’s no reason to believe his sons shouldn’t get them, too.
