US health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr used to “snort cocaine off toilet seats”

The US Health Secretary, Robert F Kennedy Jr, has opened up about his past drug addiction, admitting that he is “not scared of a germ” because he “used to snort cocaine off of toilet seats”.

He made the interesting revelation while chatting on the This Past Weekend podcast to host Theo Von.

The pair bonded over their shared history of drug abuse; they even attended support meetings together before the pandemic, and formed a “pirate” group that met during Covid lockdowns.

After sharing his peculiar bathroom habits, the politician added, “I know this disease will kill me,” referring to addiction.

He went on, “Like, if I don’t, if I don’t treat it, which means for me going to meetings every day. It’s just bad for my life. So for me, it was survival,” he confessed.

The personal confession hasn’t gone down quite so well with a number of non-profit organisations; Protect Our Care, fighting for affordable healthcare in the US, has called for Kennedy to step down.

In light of these comments, the organisation said that he was “the most dangerous, in over his head, ill-suited person ever to lead such an important federal agency that has life-and-death power”.

The comments shed more light on the decision shared earlier this month, whereby the Health Secretary announced $100 million of funding for new grants as part of a pilot program targeting homelessness and substance use recovery in eight cities. It is titled “The Great American Recovery Initiative”.

Recently, Kennedy also caused several eyebrows to raise after he made the curious claim that a keto diet is the “cure” for schizophrenia we’ve been missing all along. Last week, he insisted, “There are studies right now that I saw two days ago where people lose their bipolar diagnosis by changing their diet.”

Kennedy has promoted a history of bizarre ideas that have little scientific evidence behind them: The politician doesn’t believe HIV is the cause of AIDS, and has also insisted that Covid-19 was “ethnically targeted” to spare Jewish people and Chinese people.
