At first I was creeped out by these Japanese “joint stockings,” but now they’re kind of growing on me. I wouldn’t personally wear them, however I could see all the zombie doll lovers out there snatching ‘em up like hotcakes.

From what I can tell (I’m using Google translate here) they’re around $20 a pop. You can order them at Selfer.net.

I believe this “futuristic” commercial from 1967 is for nylon stockings.

Terylene loom.

Cyber fiber. Virtual fashions for a virtual world.

Terylene was the first wholly synthetic fiber to be invented in the UK and after it was fully launched in 1955. Terylene quickly found public favour as an alternative to wool and cotton fabric. Cloth made from Terylene kept its shape after washing and was very hardwearing, it was the most widely produced synthetic fibre. The vast ICI plants at Billingham and Wilton on Tees-side employed 30,000 people and were showcases of the new industrial Britain. ICI opened its huge chemical complex at Wilton on Tees-side in 1952 and this later became the main plant for Terylene production.”

Do not wear near an open flame.

This photo of Missing Persons’ frontwoman Dale Bozzio is from a 1980s issue of CREEM Magazine, but if you didn’t know that and I told you this was Gaga would you be able to tell the difference?

Thanks, Skye Nicolas!

Vintage mid-century home for sale appears to be untouched by time since 60s

Mid-century, 5,000-square-foot home currently for sale in Beverly Hills, CA for the asking price of $3.95 million. The ranch-style home’s decor looks like it has been virtually untouched by time since the mid-60s. I can’t figure out if this home was “staged’ by a professional (who really wanted this place to stand out, or appeal to a certain kind of person) or if this how the current owners left it for the past 40 years? Whatever the case, I dig it
