The Tea party favorite, who has been accused of living off campaign donations by her former campaign manager, really tells him, doesn’t she?

CHRISTINE O’DONNELL: Well, creationism, in essence, is believing that the world began as the Bible in Genesis says, that God created the Earth in six days, six 24-hour periods. And there is just as much, if not more, evidence supporting that.

No evidnece at all, Christine. Those dinosaur fossils were put here by God just to fuck with people, right?

And here’s what she said about not lying to Nazis if they wanted to know where the Jews were hiding on a Politically Incorrect appearance in the late 90s:

CHRISTINE O’DONNELL: A lie, whether it be a lie or an exaggeration, is disrespect to whoever you’re exaggerating or lying to, because it’s not respecting reality.

BILL MAHER: Quite the opposite, it can be respect.

EDDIE IZZARD: What if someone comes to you in the middle of the Second World War and says, ‘do you have any Jewish people in your house?’ and you do have them. That would be a lie. That would be disrespectful to Hitler.

CHRISTINE O’DONNELL: I believe if I were in that situation, God would provide a way to do the right thing righteously. I believe that!

Ciezeta also made another film with a similar concept called When Lynch Met Lucas which ran into some problems.

My immensely popular animated short film When Lynch Met Lucas was pulled off Vimeo and several other sites by a certain “organization” (who claims to support the arts and artists) with a rather nebulous claim that they own the copyright to the audio portion of my film.

Did Johnny Carson know what he was getting into when his producers asked Jim Henson to perform without Muppets on his show in February 1974?

By the time of the clip below, Henson and his Muppets Inc. crew were five years into what was becoming a hugely successful partnership with the Children’s Television Workshop on the show that would raise Generation X, Sesame Street.

What better time to do something like, say, adapt electronic music pioneer Raymond Scott’s highly trippy piece, “The Organized Mind” as a short live multimedia stage performance? (By the way, the film playing in the background is apparently Henson’s film adaptation of the same piece of music.)

Dangerous Minds pal, Chris Campion, author of the scathing Police biography,Walking on the Moon: The Untold Story of the Police and the Rise of New Wave Rock sent me this hilarious item about Sting today:

A Russian communist organization urged on Tuesday the arrest of British singer Sting over his “public promotion of drugs.”

Sting, 58, played St. Petersburg on September 13 and is due to perform in Moscow on Wednesday.

“In April 2010, Mister Sting publically called for “the worldwide legalization of marijuana,” the Communists of Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, a separate organization from the much larger Communist Party, said in a statement.

“Not only communists, but everyone in favor of a healthy way of life, the strengthening of our nation’s culture and tradition must understand that such a figure , however talented screaming teens may consider him, can not appear on stage in the Russian Federation,” the group said.

It also claimed the failure of the police to detain Sting as a “leading” proponent of drug use in St. Petersburg was an example of “double standards, negligence and rotten liberalism.”

The statement went on to call for the dismissal of St. Petersburg’s cultural authorities, and accused them of “pushing our children toward the hell of degeneration,” by allowing Sting to perform.

Sting has yet to comment.

These ads for the Utah State Fair were pulled from television this past week and the actor who stars in them, Markus T. Boddie, wonders if it might not be racially motivated. Utah State Fair Board members claim the ads “weren’t right” and found them offensive. I think they’re hilarious. They were directed by Jared Hess who helmed the equally quirky Napoleon Dynamite.

Boddie’s performance in the commercials is the stuff of superstardom. Boddie says he was channeling his inner “Barry White.”

“The spirit that we were trying to go for was the old ‘70s singers,” Boddie said. “They were ultrasmooth, ultracool and they could say anything and make it sound good.”

Director Hess expressed concern that the ads were pulled because Boddie is Black.

The ads have been replaced with a little white girl grooming a cow.

If the Utah State Fair is even half as fun as these ads, I’d consider going. Big mistake for pulling them.
 

 
Groovie Goolies cartoon show aired on American television from 1970 to 1972. A mashup of Laugh In , The Adams Family and Looney Tunes, Goolies was filled with goofy hippie dippy skits, bad puns and tons of pop culture references. Every episode had a couple of musical numbers featuring groups like The Mummies And The Puppies, The Rolling Headstones and The Bare Boned Band.

The Groovie Goolies actually toured as a band (a bunch of guys dressed up in costumes) and released an LP on RCA records

In this video, the Goolies perform the very cool tune “When I Grow Up” followed by the totally surreal live-action Daffy Duck and Porky Pig Meet the Groovie Goolies.  After all these years, this stuff still seems pretty groovy.
