Curious ‘Bob Marley’ belt buckle

This “Bob Marley” belt buckle reminds me a lot of a previously featured “Bob Marley” item, the hilarious t-shirt by African Apparel which you can view, below.

Unlike the shirt, I’m not sure if this belt buckle is ironic or just… Made in China?

With thanks to Skye Nicolas!

Get your very own ‘Lucifer Rising’ jacket

I was impressed as fuck by Noel Fielding’s clever “dog whistle” homage to Kenneth Anger (and Roy Wood) in the opening credits to his Luxury Comedy TV series (see below), but just imagine seeing someone walking down the street wearing one of these limited edition embroidered “Lucifer Rising” jackets from La Boca:

We’re very excited to have a very limited re-release of our ‘Lucifer’ jacket for Sixpack France. Designed as a tribute to the jacket worn in Kenneth Anger’s 1972 masterpiece Lucifer Rising, the original release sold out long ago, and has since become one or our most requested pieces. This new release is limited to less than 100 worldwide, and we have a few available in our shop now.
Also available in-store exclusively at Citadium Paris.

Embroidery and acrylic on a recycled US army bag by Hardy Blecman. It’s called “Voodoo Doll” and can be yours for a mere £2760.00 ($4210.66) at Maharishi.

While I like the bag and the attention to detail, it’s a tad bit pricey for my tastes.

‘French fry’ pattern footwear by Vans

I love Vans. I’ve been wearing them ever since I was 14 years old. Not sure I’d wear these french fry-themed sneakers, tho. In fact, no I would not.

I found ‘em here for $77.00 and here for $49.00. I guess the more expensive pair was fried in extra virgin olive oil?

Update: Here’s an eBay listing.

‘Send our ships out, into uncharted waters’: Sebastian Horsley on ‘Extreme Living’

A friend described the late, lamented artist, writer, and renowned dandy, Sebastian Horsley as a kind and good man, who didn’t quite always think things through.

One winter, in Edinburgh, Horsley had taken pity on a poor down-and-out, who he invited back to his apartment, which he shared with another. Horsley genuinely wanted to help the man, and offered him food, drink, cigarettes, and a warm night’s sleep in bed. The poor man took to it immediately.

Horsley was rather pleased with his role as a good Samaritan, and was about to retire, when his roommate retuned to find a filthy, foul-smelling, piss-stained inebriate under his covers.
‘Why did you give him my bed?’ his roommate asked.
‘I thought he could do with a night’s sleep,’ Horsley replied.
‘But where am I going to sleep?’
‘O, I hadn’t thought of that.’

Here is Mr. Horsley (dressed in a black sequined suit, “looking half Liberace, half Nazi,”) displaying the charm, wit and honesty that made him such a well-loved man, as he discusses clothes, his ban from entering the U.S.A. (on grounds of “moral turpitude”), his autobiography Dandy in the Underworld, and why we should send “our ships out into uncharted waters—for this is the way we will discover ourselves.”

Here’s David and Angie Bowie taking their then 3-week-old baby Zowie out for a walk in June of 1971. Their son’s birth (and a Neil Young album) inspired the song “Kooks” on Hunky Dory.

Zowie Bowie later reverted to his birth name of Duncan Jones and is today a successful film and advertising director. He’s active in raising awareness for early breast cancer screening along with his wife, Rodene Ronquillo.

Wedding dress made out of divorce papers

Demi Barnes, a 15-year-old student from Crawley in England, has made the perfect dress for every celebrity wedding: a bridal gown made from 1500 divorce papers!

Since Barnes is only 15, she couldn’t actually get her hands on a real divorce paper, so she filled out a divorce form from the Internet and printed it 1500 times.

Apparently the dress only took 10 hours to make. Which is actually longer than many celebrity marriages…
