Here’s something quite rare; the pilot of A Whole Scene Going, a show for teens that aired on British tv in 1965. This episode features fashion predictions for 1966, advice for young lovers from Lulu, a segment on the up and coming skateboard craze, footage of The Who, and an interview with a very cynical, sarcastic and witty Pete Townshend.

Roxy Music performing Virginia Plain and Love is The Drug on the last edition of British television’s Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, which aired on July 16. Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, and Paul Thompson all sound terrific. But, where’s Eno?

Roxy is touring Europe, but no US dates are currently scheduled.

Bryan Ferry/Jonathan Ross, separated at birth.

You don’t have to speak Mandarin in order to appreciate this scathingly funny Sarah Palin animation from Taiwan television.

It appears that Asians find Palin as ridiculous as most clear thinking Americans do. Scary thing is, the reality is so absurd it’s almost beyond satire. How much more of her shit is this country willing to swallow?

Glen Campbell sings Wichita Lineman

A quick ode to a beautiful and enigmatic tune: Glen Campbell‘s hit version of Jimmy Webb‘s Wichita Lineman. Surely one of the most haunting and even creepy of all love songs and packed with unanswered questions. Has he gone mad, hearing voices in the static of the power lines or has he tapped her phone ?  When I hear this song I actually can picture myself up a lonely telephone pole on some bleak and empty highway somewhere, my heart full of longing. Plus: A tasty Fender VI solo !

Thanks Nicole Panter !

As insane as Utah can seem to be, the Multimedia Production Unit at the Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library have come up with a pretty good spoof response to Procter & Gamble’s soon-to-be-very-tiresome Old Spice Man campaign. Ad writers will never beat out college-kid smarmy smarts.

Explore The IT Crowd’s basement!

Via our friends at Nerdcore, here’s an extremely cool—and extremely detailed—panoramic fly-through of the set of the very delightful The IT Crowd television comedy. Walk in the footsteps of Moss, Roy and Jen! Check out all of their stuff!

It’s the middle of the new series and it’s even better than the last. This go ‘round, I have laughed myself senseless at Richard Ayoade’s Moss enthralling a bunch of idiotic businessmen with his D&D prowess and Moss’s ninja quiz show skills. And Matt Berry… what a comic genius! All I can say is this: I wish there was a drug I could take that would turn me into Douglas for just one day. One day. Is that too much to ask?

I also laughed heartily at the name of the rock group, Sweet Billy Pilgrim, a reference, of course, to the character in Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five, right? I made a mental note to email series creator Graham Linehan and tell him what a good chuckle I had at this great literary name he’d come up with, but before I did, I decided to Google Sweet Billy Pilgrim just in case. I’m glad I did as it actually is a real group! That would have been really embarrassing.

(Tara, being both from Ohio and a big Guided By Voices fan, wanted me to show you this particular zoom in on some of the details, hence the above screen grab)
