The good people at Welcome To Twin Peaks have shared a wonderful web widget with which you can kill some quality time today—”David Lynch Doodle.” It’s a caricature of Lynch (who turns 70 today) with his epic haircut lopped off, and you get to draw it in, with eleven simulated brushes to choose from. (While you justly make fun of my shitty efforts, bear in mind that I went to art school. And graduated. In lots of debt.)
Now, the online tool is imperfect. I tried it in different browsers on various Macs, and a screamingly noticeable defect occurs—the correlation between the cursor position and where your line is actually drawn was WAY better on an ancient iMac with a mouse than it was on my much more recent MacBook Pro with either a mouse or the trackpad. Alas, I don’t have a Windows machine handy for comparison. If you encounter difficulties, there’s an old-school ink-on-paper option. Have fun, and by all means, feel free to post your successes in the comments—you’d HAVE to do better than I did.
