Here’s something I’ve never seen before, and likewise doubt many of you have as well, a 1970 Australian TV special on Procol Harum. Directed by Chris Copping’s brother, Robin, around the time that the album Home was released, this is one of the few documents of a seminal (and exceedingly well-dressed) band of the 1960s/early 70s - one whose first few albums sound as good today as they did then.
It’s inexplicable to me that other than compilations and a couple of imports, Procol Harum’s CDs are out of print. With all the boxsets devoted to middling crap, seems Harum more than deserves a re-mastered retrospective.
Update: Some of our readers have brought to my attention that Procol Harum’s albums have been remastered by a company in England named Salvo. You can find the CDs sold individually on Amazon. No box set and some titles are quite expensive and a few are not in stock at all. In addition, they’re not available as downloads. So, despite the efforts of a company with it’s heart in the right place, Harum still need a proper box set. Readers, am I missing something here?
