One of my favorite rock ‘n’ roll moments was when Sham 69’s Jimmy Pursey joined The Clash to sing “White Riot” in 1978 at Rock Against Racism concert. If there was a voice in punk that could lead the charge with as anthemic fervor as Joe Strummer’s, it was Pursey’s. So it’s rather odd to hear that voice muted and see Pursey’s revolutionary zeal being channeled into something as inconsequential, and embarrassing, as this bit of artsy fartsniness: Jimmy Pursey, modern dancer.
